My Italian Trip w/De Grazia

As many of you know, I was "working" in southern and central Italy during the beginning of September. A small Wisco group travelled along with a few friends from De Grazia Imports. The trip was amazing and as always, educational. I joke that you can only make the duration of these trips one week. Anything longer and all the wine, olive oil, cheese, cured meat and pasta begin to wear on you. My pancreas always screams "uncle" on about day five.

On Friday we welcome Milko Miladanov from De Grazia. He is a great travel companion. You may remember Milko from this past spring when we had that giant Saturday tasting featuring women from seven different Italian wineries. Above is a pic from our last night in Rome when beer was the soup du jour, sad to say he was unable to finish that entire beer. It's not his fault, he lives in Pittsburgh. Swing on by to taste a few of my favorites with my favorite Bulgarian.

Terry Theise Selections

Join Jeff Burke from Left Bank and myself as we explore a few Terry Theise Selections. Terry has a knack for bringing in honest, authentic wines that always over deliver for the price. Terry works with small, family wineries in Germany, Austria and Champagne. His selections have long been wine nerd favorites. If you like wines that drip with energy, tension and pure deliciousness...I'll see you Friday.

Natural Spanish Imports from Jose Pastor

JPS explores both established and up-and-coming regions throughout the Iberian Peninsula and its surrounding islands to find growers who respect their land, using the most natural means possible, often practicing organic and/or biodynamic farming. This is how their ancestors made wine. Their growers emphasize indigenous grape varieties and work their land to handcraft honest wines with a sense of place. As I always like to say, these are wines that are good for you and good for the world.

Guilty Pleasures

$20, $15 W/RSVP

Happy 2019 everybody. While many folks are busy making and executing their resolutions, I’m doing the opposite. I’m leaning firmly into my favorite vice. Guilty pleasure wines. If you happened to listen to the Guild Somm podcast I posted on Facebook yesterday, all of this may come as slightly less of a surprise. Wine nerds will probs make fun of a few of these wines. Those general consumers (aka your friend that’s “really into wine”) that know enough to be dangerous, certainly will. Well guess what, it’s 2019 and Ima do me.

Tasting Lineup
– 2018 Delinquente Wine Co., “Tuff Nutt”, Bianco d’Alessano
– 2016 Gysler, Scheurebe, Rheinhessen
– 2014 Zind Humbrecht, Pinot Gris, Alsace
– 2017 Casa do Valle, Rosé, Vinho Verde
– 2017 Cruse Wine Co., Valdiguié, Napa Valley
– 2017 Field Recordings, “Superiore”, Paso Robles
– 2014 Henschke, “Keyneton Euphonium”, Barossa
